Huntington achieves first oil

Premier Oil's Huntington field in the central North Sea came on stream on Friday using Sevan Marine's Voyageur Spirit FPSO.

After an initial ramp up period, the field is expected to produce 25-30 kboepd (gross), said Premier. For Premier it is the first of four UK North Sea projects due on stream over the next few years.

In an earlier statement, Sevan Marine said that following 72 hours of continuous production testing, title to the FPSO Voyageur was expected to be transferred to Voyageur (a subsidiary of Teekay Corp) within one week.

This follows a deal between Teekay and Sevan Marine last year, which saw Teekay agree to take over the Sevan Voyageur and other vessels, following Sevan falling into financial difficulties.

Sevan Marine said the move would "constitute the final step in the restructuring of Sevan Marine and its subsidiaries according to plan".

Simon Lockett, chief executive officer, said: “We are delighted to have achieved first oil from the Huntington oil field. This marks the first of four UK North Sea projects from our development portfolio which will come on-stream over the next few years.  We look forward to the field making a significant contribution to our worldwide production and cash flow growth.”
