Statoil to drill Carmen prospect

Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) has given Statoil the go-ahead to drill the Carmen prospect in the Norwegian Sea.

Statoil will use the semisubmersible Deepsea Bergen to drill Carmen, located on Block 6507/8 in 358 m of water at Haltenbanken. The company will drill a pilot well to 800 m to test for shallow gas in the area. Drilling is expected to take 18 days at begin in mid-June, PSA said in a June 7 press release.

Carmen is located 222 km west of Brønnøysund in Nordland County and 10 km northeast of Heidrun.
