Francis Brown Delivers Specialist Deck Equipment

Wednesday, September 26, 2018

Fabrication and engineering specialists Francis Brown Limited delivered deck equipment fabrications for a global supplier specializing in subsea remotely operated equipment which is working on offshore wind farms in the North Sea.

In less than 16 weeks, the company provided Soil Machine Dynamics Ltd (SMD) with specialist fabrications to form part of a winch system to operate alongside its QTrencher which was delivered to one of its major global clients in April this year.

In order to meet the client’s requirements, SMD engineered a unique design and worked with Francis Brown to deliver the fabrications in a timely manner. Francis Brown’s scope was to supply painted fabrications for the winch system for a cable trenching machine.

This forms part of a series of projects that Francis Brown has recently delivered to the business, including other subsea and deck equipment fabrication packages.

Francis Brown supplied the complex equipment which was subsequently fully assembled with hydraulics by SMD. Weighing an impressive 60 tonnes the equipment was built to a strict tolerance and timescale, without compromising on the quality and safety of all those involved.
