PG Flow Solutions has been awarded a contract to supply a seawater circulation pump system to a wellboat that Norwegian shipyard Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted is building for the newly established wellboat company Hordalaks AS.

PG Flow Solutions will deliver the pump as a subcontractor to MMC First Process. The seawater circulation pump will be one of the largest ever used on a wellboat, and will be delivered during the second quarter of 2019.

The low pressure pump from PG Flow Solutions is part of the system delivery from MMC First Process. PG Flow Solutions will also supply engine room pumps that are required for the main engine and support engines, plus generic pump requirements for operating the wellboat. PG Flow Solutions’ contract value has not been disclosed.

The pumps will be utilized on board the Hordagut wellboat, which is newbuild #44 from Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted AS. The vessel has a storage capacity of 4,700 cubic metres and will be delivered in April 2020.

“We understand that the yard, ship designer and owner in combination have placed great importance on creating a first class environment for the fish on board the Hordagut wellboat. We are very pleased that MMC First Process has chosen us as subcontractor for the project,” says Øyvind Berg, vice president sales & marketing at PG Flow Solutions.

PG Flow Solutions’ seawater circulation pump is highly efficient. In addition, the vessel crew can easily maintain the pump without the support from an external service technician. This saves both time and costs for the shipowner.

The owners of Hordalaks AS are fish farming companies Blom Fiskeoppdrett AS, Kobbevik & Furuholmen Oppdrett AS, Fremskridt laks AS, Fylkesnes Fisk AS and Engesund Fiskeoppdrett AS. The wellboat will primarily work for these companies who in total holds 25 fish farming licenses in Hordaland, Norway.

PG Flow Solutions provides proprietary solutions, systems and products for companies within the energy, maritime, aquaculture and land-based process industries. The heritage of the business is pumps and pumping systems. Its main manufacturing sites are located in Sande, Vestfold, Norway, and Worcester, UK. The company also has a fabrication site in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, and a service set-up in Ningbo, China.
