Smulders, acting for and on behalf of the JV Iemants-Eiffage, has reached the next step in the realization of the substation for the Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm.
Ten months after starting the final assembly in January 2018 at the yard of Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen, the substation topside was driven outside for further outfitting on 21 October. Offshore installation is planned in the first half of 2019.
The topside will be installed on top of the 60 meter high jacket foundation, which is also being built by Smulders.
The Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm will be an impressive wind farm with 33 turbines, situated 95 kilometres northwest of the Borkum Island in Germany. The wind farm will have a total capacity of close to 269 megawatt which will be sufficient to power approximately 328,000 households.
The joint venture Iemants-Eiffage was chosen by Van Oord for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the substation topside and jacket.
With DNSN, Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen manages and supports the works and provides Iemants-Eiffage with a small group of professionals for welding -and painting works.
