VNG Norge has awarded a trio of companies, Subsea 7, TechnipFMC, and Aker Solutions, front-end engineering and design (FEED) contracts for the Pil & Bue project, in the Norwegian Sea.

Subsea 7 and TechnipFMC won the subsea structures, umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) portion of the deal; while the duo of TechnipFMC and Aker Solutions won the subsea production systems portion of Pil & Bue.

The FEED awards were based on a prequalification of tenderers, says VNG.

The studies will culminate in a design competition on which the contract for engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI/EPC) will be awarded in Q4 2017.

Last month, VNG announced it plans to have a final investment decision for the project by the end of this year.

Pil and Bue, in PL 586, will be developed as a tie-back to the nearby Njord platform.

With total estimated resources of 90-200 MMboe. Pil is estimated to hold 7.5-14.9 MMcum of recoverable oil and condensate, and 3.7-5.9 Bcm of recoverable gas; while Bue has estimated resources of 1.5-2.6 MMcum of recoverable oil equivalent.

VNG is the operator with 30% stake. Partners include Faroe Petroleum (25%) and Point Resources (45%).
