Subsea 7 has been awarded a substantial contract on the BP-operated deepwater Atoll field offshore Egypt.
Atoll, a 1.5 Tcf and 31 MMbbl condensate field, in 900m water depth in the North Damietta Offshore Concession in the East Nile Delta, is due to be tied into the existing Taurt field, in 100m water depth.
Phase One development project targeting up to 300 MMcf/d, through an early production scheme (EPS) involving the recompletion of the existing exploration well as a producing well, the drilling of two additional wells and the installation of the necessary tie-ins and facilities.
Subesa 7's contract scope includes the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of more than 40km of rigid pipelines and associated structures for the new Atoll field.
A 105km umbilical will also be installed linking the Atoll field to shore. Engineering and procurement services have already started. Offshore campaigns will take place in 2H of 2017 and the early months of 2018, using the Subsea 7 vessels Seven Borealis, Seven Eagle, and Seven Arctic.
Subsea 7's Region Vice President for Africa, Gilles Lafaye, said: "We are delighted to strengthen our presence in Egypt. This substantial contract award recognizes our technical expertise and track record of strong execution for Pharaonic Petroleum Company".
BP announced the Atoll discovery in March 2015. The Atoll-1 deepwater exploration discovery well in the North Damietta Offshore concession in East Nile Delta was drilled using the 6th generation semi-submersible rig Maersk Discoverer. The exploration well reached a depth of 6400m and penetrated approximately 50m of gas pay in high quality sandstones.
The Atoll Heads of Agreement was signed by His Excellency Tarek El Molla, Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Bob Dudley, BP Group CEO in November 2015, just eight months after the discovery.
Subsea 7's contract is with Pharaonic Petroleum Company, a BP joint venture company.
