Malaysia's Petronas has appointed a wholly owned subsidiary Vestigo Petroleum to operate the Berantai field facilities.
The facilities, about 150km offshore Malaysia, comprise of a wellhead platform connected to a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, the Berantai FPSO. From there, processed gas is exported to the neighboring Angsi field facilities via a 30km subsea pipeline, before being exported to onshore.
It had been operated by SapuraKencana Petroleum subsidiaries, under a risk service contract (RSC), which both partners agreed to cease last week.
The Berantai field produced first gas in October 2012.
Petronas says Vestigo specializes in the development and production of small and marginal fields. The firm currently also operates the Tembikai field under the Tembikai-Chenang Cluster Small Field risk sharing contract, which achieved first oil in June 2015.
