The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Faroe Petroleum a drilling permit for a side track appraisal well on the Brasse discovery in the Norwegian North Sea.
Well 31/7-1 A side track will be drilled using the Transocean Arctic drilling facility in production license 740.
The side track well follows on directly from the discovery well, 31/7-1, completed earlier this month, 13km south of the producing Brage field.
The discovery well was said to have encountered 18m of gas and about 21m of oil in Jurassic reservoirs, which are believed to be analogues to the Brage reservoir. If proved commercial, Brasse could be developed as a tieback to Brage.
Faroe Petroleum is the operator of the Brasse well with an ownership interest of 50% and Core Energy is a licensee with 50%.
The area in this license consists of parts of blocks 31/7 and 30/9. Production license 740 was awarded in APA 2013.
