PGS is to start a 8200sq km survey of the Nordland Ridge area of the Norwegian Sea, starting May and to be completed during 2016.

The survey is a prefunded GeoStreamer project and extends the existing PGS library coverage of the Halten Terrace to provide a regional dataset of over 29,000sq km. Fast track products from this new survey will be ready early 2017.

The final dual-sensor broadband dataset will be merged with existing GeoStreamer data in surrounding areas. The program will cover all relevant APA licenses in this part of the Norwegian Sea, providing an excellent foundation for high resolution 3D prospectivity screening. Pre-stack analyses of GeoStreamer data clearly correlate with known discoveries.

Structural complexity and intense faulting at Jurassic level produce imaging challenges in the area. GeoStreamer technology addresses this with deeper signal penetration and higher resolution of both shallow and deeper features.

The new survey will cover the northern part of the Dønna Terrace, the Rødøy High, and extend northwards over the southern part of the Træna Basin and the Nordland Ridge. The area has numerous oil and gas discoveries, including Linerle, Falk, Skuld and Svale North.

PGS will use an acquisition configuration of 14 streamers with 75m separation. It is PGS' fifth consecutive year of highly efficient, effective and safe acquisition in the Norwegian Sea. State-of-the-art processing of GeoStreamer data, guarantees a robust and reliable solution to exploration and production companies’ exploration challenges. The new dataset can be used as a baseline survey for future 4D studies, making this PGS GeoStreamer program a cost effective solution for exploration, evaluation, field development and baseline monitoring.
