Premier Oil's exploration well 3/7-10 S on the Myrhauk prospect in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea is to be plugged and abandoned as a dry hole.
The well, on the south east flank of the Mandal High in production license 539, reached total vertical depth of 3464m. The well encountered about 110m of good reservoir quality Middle Jurassic sands but these were water wet. The well is being plugged and abandoned as a dry hole.
The purpose with the well was to prove petroleum in the Upper and Middle Jurassic reservoir rocks (the Ula and Bryne formations). The well did not encounter the Ula formation.
The well is the first exploration well in production licence PL 539, awarded in the Awards in Predefined Areas round in 2009.
