Lifting, handling and cable and pipeline and fluid power firm Sparrows Group has expanded its reach in the Middle East after forming a local partnership with Zamil Group in Saudi Arabia.

The strategic alliance will see Sparrows Group’s full range of services being offered through the Zamil Group.

The firm already has Middle East bases in Abu Dhabi and Al Khor (Qatar) and recently opened new regional headquarters in Dubai.

Stewart Mitchell, CEO at Sparrows, said: “The Middle East is already an important market for Sparrows and will continue to play an increasingly significant role for us in the years to come. Saudi Arabia is a powerhouse in the region and we have focused a lot of resources in identifying the right partner to support us in entering the country.

“Zamil Group is an organisation with a very strong reputation for quality and client focussed delivery. We believe we have found a partner that complements our own strengths in the delivery of engineering, equipment, inspection, operations and maintenance, and training across the asset life cycle.”

Zamil Group Holding Company is a global investment company with diverse interests and capabilities. The organization’s Zamil Offshore Company operates its own port facility at Dammam and has a fleet of over 100 vessels.

Mohammed Al Baadi at Zamil said: “There are opportunities in Saudi Arabia for companies with high levels of expertise that can provide support for operators in the country. Sparrows Group is well-known worldwide for the expert knowledge and skills they can bring to a project.

“We look forward to working with Sparrows Group and hope our partnership will be a long and successful one.”

The firm has been growing its business worldwide and Sparrows Group recently announced it had entered into a partnership with Eftech in Malaysia. The country-wide agreement sees Sparrows Group offering its products through the local service provider as part of a plan to treble business in Asia Pacific over the next five years.

Established originally in 1946, the Sparrows Group moved into the oil and gas market in 1975 and celebrates 40 years working offshore this year. They are one of the most well-known and trusted names in the oil and gas industry. The company provides engineered products and services, primarily to the offshore sector, specialising in lifting and handling, cable and pipe lay, and fluid power solutions.
