Wood Group has secured a new contract to carry out front-end engineering and design (FEED) for the Woodside operated proposed Browse floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) development, offshore Western Australia.

Wood Group Kenny (WGK) will perform all design engineering for the insulated production flowline system required for the asset’s offshore gas-condensate fields - Brecknock, Calliance and Torosa – located 300km from the Kimberly coast. The 12-month contract, which is valued at US$6 million and effective immediately, will be delivered from WGK’s Perth office.

The primary focus of the Browse subsea flowline FEED is to develop the engineering and design of the rigid flowline system to assist the Browse joint venture participants to take a final investment decision, which Woodside is targeting in 2H 2016.

The award follows WGK’s successful delivery of the preliminary engineering for the Browse flowline system during the basis of design phase. It also continues the strong, long-term partnership between both companies; WGK has worked on projects including Greater Western Flank Phase 2, Pluto, Angel and the Trunkline System Expansion Project.

Bob MacDonald, CEO of Wood Group Kenny said: “This new contract is testament to the 30-year relationship Wood Group has with Woodside, which is built on trust and a proven track record of working together effectively and efficiently towards successful value project delivery.

“If Browse proceeds it will be the second FLNG development in Australia. WGK is well positioned to deliver the project having successfully designed the subsea flowlines for the country’s first FLNG facility, Shell Prelude. We provide, proven expertise and knowledge of the technology required to create a design to withstand Australia’s harsh cyclonic offshore environment.

“We are committed to supporting local clients and communities from our global offices, and will deliver this contract with a Perth-based workforce.”
