FMC Technologies and Hayward Tyler Group entered into a production alliance agreement for the commercial manufacture of permanent magnet motors for use in FMC Technologies’ subsea pump systems.

The alliance with Hayward Tyler signifies the next logical step in the commercialization of FMC Technologies’ recently qualified 3.2 MW subsea motor and other similar products.

“FMC Technologies is excited to partner with Hayward Tyler – a company with 200 years of serving its customers with innovative technological solutions. Combined, we can now offer the subsea oil and gas segment the absolute latest technology – and then deliver it with best-in-class manufacturing capability. This critical step towards commercialization ensures our customers receive the most reliable subsea boosting solutions available while enhancing the economics for subsea reservoir development,” Jim Pribble, president and general manager of FMC’s direct drive systems said. “Through its relationships with Sulzer and Hayward Tyler, FMC Technologies is clearly positioned to be the supplier-of-choice for operators’ subsea boosting needs.”

Hayward Tyler is currently undertaking a major expansion of its main manufacturing facility in Luton, England, which will allow the company to be certified as “Fit for Nuclear,” as well as double production capacity at this plant.

“As part of the strategic development of our subsea offering, we are delighted to be entering this production alliance agreement with FMC Technologies, a market-leader in subsea infrastructure,” Ewan Lloyd-Baker, CEO of Hayward Tyler said. “Hayward Tyler views the offshore oil & gas market as being of long-term strategic importance to the Group and considers this agreement to be a key cornerstone given the sector’s needs for more reliable and efficient well extraction.”
