KTR-WG Turbine Services LLP (KTR-WG), a joint venture between Wood Group GTS and KazTurboRemont (KTR), has been awarded a long-term service agreement by the North Caspian Production Operating Company (NCPOC) in Kazakhstan.

The joint venture will support the critical rotating equipment on the Kashagan project to develop the 5600sq km Kashagan oil field.

The contract includes six GE Frame 6B, two GE Frame 5D, three Siemens SGT-600 and four Rolls-Royce RB211 gas turbines plus all driven equipment, steam turbines, standby diesels and compressors, fully utilising the diverse range of experience on these engine types the joint venture is equipped to deal with.

The KTR-WG team was selected based on their combined capabilities and experience developed through the provision of services to the gas turbine market.

The contract is for an initial eight-year term with further extension options, and covers the supply of parts, repairs, planned maintenance and supervisors in-country to manage the full scope of rotating equipment.

Askhat Usserov, General Director for KazTurboRemont, said: "Under the contract KTR-WG plans to set up a gas turbine component repair facility in Kazakhstan, signaling our ongoing commitment to train local supervisors."
