Atkins has successfully won a AUS$19 million flow assurance contract for the INPEX-operated Ichthys Project, offshore of Western Australia.

The project will take gas from the Ichthys field, in the Browse basin, which will then undergo preliminary processing by offshore facilities.

The gas will be exported to onshore processing facilities in Darwin, Northern Territory, via an 889km pipeline and processed through an LNG processing plant.

Atkins’ scope of work includes flow assurance, systems engineering and ad-hoc process engineering support through Execute Stage to initial start-up, for international oil and gas E&P company, INPEX.

Nick Wells, operations director for Atkins’ oil and gas business in Perth, says: “This is a significant four-year contract for Atkins, drawing on the expertise and experience from our Perth office and our international hubs in the UK and Houston for what is undoubtedly a world-class gas project.

"We have unparalleled experience on similar projects such as the Woodside Pluto LNG project detailed design and execution phase providing flow assurance and systems engineering support and a large experienced team of local and international flow assurance and process engineers.

“We are very much looking forward to enhancing our working relationship with INPEX and delivering great results within this field, as well as providing support for commissioning and ‘operating’ phases of the Project.”
