KnightHawk ETEC, of Houston, Texas, announced its new ReFORM technology application, which remediates oil-based drilling mud (OBDM) in an environmentally-friendly method.
The new technology facilitates the removal of hydrocarbon-saturated solids from the drilling process, recovering latent energy in the residual liquids to power the process, and thermally treats the solids to a benign powder. The system exhausts water vapor, carbon dioxide, and granular solids that have had hydrocarbons removed.
The energia.OBDM system utilizes a sophisticated control architecture to allow nearly autonomous operation with only maintenance personnel required on site.Remote operation is available to provide oversight to operations and system diagnosis.
Processing is designed to be mobile on three tractor trailer units, requiring no permitted loads. OBDM solids can be processed at up to 3500lb/hr and can be efficiently throttled to improve efficiency during drilling slow down or stoppage.
KnightHawk's base technology platform has completed numerical and laboratory process simulation. All equipment technology has been specified for a complete mobile processing facility to be setup at the drill site and process all solids during the drill operation. The system can also remediate waste oil and other fluids on site to assist in site cleanup.
