Canadian integrated energy company Suncor said it has restarted production from the Terra Nova floating production storage and offloading vessel (FPSO), approximately 350 kilometers east-southeast off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada in the North Atlantic Ocean.

The FPSO, which was shut down for repairs and then remained offline during a storm, commenced on Sunday with a "slow and controlled production restart process," C-NLOPB said in an update on Monday.

"Following comprehensive assurance inspections and consultation with the C-NLOPB, the Terra Nova FPSO is in the process of safely returning to planned operations," Suncor tweeted on Sunday.

The Terra Nova FPSO and its subsea infrastructure have undergone significant integrity assurance work prior to restart activities commencing, C-NLOPB said. Extensive pressure testing and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) inspections of the subsea flowlines have also been completed.

C-NLOPB is continuing to monitor Suncor’s restart activities.

The Terra Nova field is comprised of a combination of producing wells, water injection wells and gas injection wells, with production from the Graben, East Flank and Far East blocks.
