Jack-up drilling specialist Shelf Drilling has been awarded a three-year contract in India for for the Ron Tappmeyer jackup by Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC).
The Mumbai High offshore operations have been scheduled to start by Q2 2019, said a press release from the jack-up rig owner.
Shelf Drilling did not disclose the financial details of the contract with India’s national oil company.
The Ron Tappmeyer – built in 1978 – can operate in up to 300 feet of water, boasts a maximum drilling depth of 25,000 feet and can accommodate up to 116 people.
According the company’s website, Shelf Drilling has eight rigs currently deployed in India.
Shelf Drilling is an international shallow water offshore drilling contractor with rig operations across Middle East, Southeast Asia, India, West Africa and the Mediterranean.
