The provider of of topside, offshore and subsea marine services and solutions James Fisher Marine Services (JFMS) has announced that its innovative offshore support vessel, Dart Fisher, has returned to sea following refurbishment at the Alicat Workboats shipyard in Great Yarmouth.
The British provider of marine engineering services provider said in a press note that the £35,000 investment was timed to coincide with up and coming operations and maintenance (O&M) charter requirements to ensure that the Dart Fisher is ready to mobilise at short notice.
Scott Plank, marine manager at JFMS, said: “It is vital for James Fisher Marine Services that the Dart Fisher is maintained to the highest industry standards to keep her charter ready and with the works completed and upgrades which we have already completed, we are confident that the vessel can support the renewable offshore sector for years to come.”
Dart Fisher’s latest maintenance works ensure it meets DNV-GL class requirements, including prop shaft replacements, together with associated bearings and seals, which is a condition of class and means the vessel remains classed under the top IACS listed class society.
JFMS, part of James Fisher and Sons plc, has elected to bring all Dart Fisher’s certifications back under DNV-class, confirming the company’s commitment to operating the vessel to the very highest available safety standards in the offshore industry.
Other works carried out at one of the most capable small vessel repair facilities in the UK, included an overhaul of the vessel’s main engine and gear box along with a renewal of the Dart Fisher`s below water line anti fouling paint covering to ensure maximum fuel efficiency.
These works are in addition to other recent investment in the Dart Fisher including an improved bow fender appendage and a purpose designed “saloon module” carried on the main deck to maximise passenger comfort and flexibility.
Since its maiden voyage, the Dart Fisher has supported many high profile clients including Innogy, SSE, Prysmian, Scottish Power, Orsted and Siemens.
The 25.7metre-long offshore support vessel is able to carry three standard ISO 20ft containers (with a 30-tonne load) and 12 passengers to sites up to 150 nautical miles offshore.
As a specialist multi-purpose vessel with modular accommodation, Dart Fisher is suitable for a range of marine services such as diving, ROV, cable installation, ship-to-turbine oil change, blade repair and other O&M duties.
The vessel also has the prestigious German certificate of equivalence, further adding confidence in the ship’s safety standards and allowing it to work further afield.
