AXIS, STEHMO Supporting Subsea Installation Market

Wednesday, December 4, 2019

AXIS Pipeline Construction Group and ST Engineering Halter Marine and Offshore shipyard have partnered to service the subsea fabrication and installation market.

This newly forged partnership, combined with more than 40 years of subsea fabrication and installation management experience, provides innovative capabilities currently unavailable to the subsea installation market, the companies said.

Located in Pascagoula, Miss., ST Engineering Halter Marine and Offshore (STEHMO) is a provider of services for ships, drilling rigs and other marine vessels within the Gulf of Mexico and beyond. STEHMO provides dry docking, upgrades, repair, conversion, major fabrication, new construction and on-location or in-transit offshore service teams.

STEHMO’s deep water accessibility and no height restrictions will allow even the largest installation vessels the ability to perform full load out quayside virtually eliminating the current need to double handle major equipment offshore. In addition, most shipyard services would be available to be performed in conjunction with load out operations.

This new partnership will offer a broad variety of services including, but not limited to, onsite construction management, welding services, heavy equipment operators, hydraulic / mechanical technicians, welding, NDT and Coating Inspection, SURF fabrication, project staging areas, pipeline construction, subsea IMR and SIT.

The Axis Pipeline Construction Group, which has a subsea construction track record in both shallow and deep water markets, provides the management and expertise for pipeline S-Lay, reel lay of rigid or flexible pipe and subsea control umbilicals installation services, along with the design and fabrication of the required subsea architecture structures.  Axis has now staged its relay spreads at STEHMO..

The combined fabrication team is experienced with jumpers, tie-in spools, manifolds, PLETs, PLEMs, risers, installation aids, suction piles, and topside packages.

“AXIS and ST Engineering Halter Marine and Offshore are embarking on this collaboration, leveraging on the unique capabilities of both parties to provide comprehensive subsea solutions to customers. We believe the industry can benefit from our excellent infrastructure and our knowledge to execute complex projects,” said Nian Hua Lim, President and Chief Executive Officer of ST Engineering Halter Marine and Offshore.

“This alliance has always been a part of the Axis growth strategy and we’re  exceptionally pleased  to have the STEHMO team as an integral part of the service offering. We can now accommodate all SURF installation campaigns with dockside services, fabrication and comprehensive project support,” said Paul Byington, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Axis Pipeline Construction Group.
