SOV/CSOV Shipbuilding Market: Strong Growth, Volatility in Coming 5 Years

As offshore wind farms grow larger and further offshore, the demand grows for bigger, more capable vessels. Enter the Service Operation Vessel (SOV) and Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) segments, which according to Phil Lewis, Director of Research, Intelatus Global Partners, are drawing a fair amount of speculative ordering today. Maintaining vessel supply and demand while eyeing day rates to support the industry is a perpetual challenge.
