Technip joins Cardamom

Technip's Deep Blue

Shell has chosen Technip to develop subsea infrastructure at Cardamom field in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, the Paris-based engineering firm announced on 9 November 2012.

Technip's lump sum contract covers project management, engineering, fabrication and installation of the East and West Loop 12.8km pipe-in-pipe flowlines, associated PLETs and steel catenary risers.

Project management will be handled through Technip's Houston office with flowlines and risers to be fabricated at its spoolbase in Mobile, Alabama. Technip will use its deepwater pipelay vessels Deep Blue and the recently acquired vessel The Pioneer to perform offshore installation in 2013. The contract's value was not disclosed.

Cardmom is located in the Garden Banks block 427 in 2,702ft of water. The project, in which Shell holds 100% interest, consists of a subsea tie-back to the Auger tension leg platform. Peak production is expected to measure 50,000 boepd.
