China’s first multi-purpose offshore vessel “Offshore Oil 286” has won the top 20 national excellent ocean engineering projects selected by China Consultant Association of Ocean Engineering.
The deepwater engineering ship invested and constructed by Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. (COOEC), a subsidiary of China National Offshore Oil Corporation.
Built by Guangzhou Huangpu Shipbuilding “Offshore Oil 286” is a multifunctional underwater engineering vessel with an operating water depth of 3,000 meters, which combines functions including deepwater installation of large underwater structures, hose laying and diving support.
It has dynamic positioning capability at level III, which can complete deepwater lifting, hose laying, anchor system treatment, ROV/IMR/saturation diving operation and other underwater projects. The overall performance has reached the international leading level, and the construction difficulty and technical requirements are the top in the world, a press release from COOEC said.
it said that selection experts believe that the design, construction and whole process management of the project have overcome many challenges such as numerous equipment, complex structure, densely distributed cables, high comprehensive integration and automation, and led China's offshore oil industry and shipbuilding industry to make many major breakthroughs in the development of deepwater oil and gas fields and construction of deepwater engineering ships, which has greatly enhanced the core competitiveness of China's offshore engineering equipment and is of great significance for realizing the strategic goal of China's offshore oil exploration transferring to the deep sea.
“Offshore Oil 286” with total investment of over RMB 1 billion was officially put into use in March 2015. After that, it has been in high-frequency operation, and ships and equipment have been competent and have not delayed the construction period from the East China Sea to the South China Sea, from the sea trial of deep-sea equipment to the underwater engineering operations, and from the rescue of sea fishing boats to the fight against super typhoon.
It has become an attendant vessel that many ship owners, shipyards and design units are emulating by virtue of excellent operating capacity and superior ship performance, said the release.
