UK fractured basement explorer Hurricane Energy has contracted floating production and subsea engineering firm Crondall Energy to provide engineering support during the early production system (EPS) project on the Lancaster field, West of Shetland.
Hurricane Energy has agreed to extend Crondall Energy’s current involvement with the project as client’s engineer, supporting the operator with the delivery of the Bluewater-owned floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, the Aoku Mizu, which will be used during the EPS phase of the field’s development.
Crondall Energy will support the operator’s project team during the engineering and procurement phase of the FPSO in Europe, the vessel upgrades in Dubai and the installation and start-up of the Aoku Mizu at the Lancaster field.
Hurricane Energy received consent from UK authorities for the development and production of the Lancaster field in September this year.
The field, which is estimated by an independent reserve consultant to hold combined 2P Reserves and 2C Resources of 523 MM stock tank barrels of oil, is scheduled to produce first oil in 1H 2019.
The Lancaster field is in blocks 205/21a, 205/22a and 205/26b in water depths of around 155m.
Hurricane Energy’s licenses are all located on the Rona Ridge, West of Shetland. In addition to Lancaster, it made two significant discoveries on its acreage, at Halifax and Lincoln, during a 2016-2017 drilling campaign.
