EnQuest COO and executive director Neil McCulloch is stepping down today from his posts, by mutual agreement, according to the UK independent operator.
In his place, Faysal Hamza has been appointed Interim Head of North Sea, and Bob Davenport has been appointed Managing Director, North Sea, reporting to Hamza.
Prior to joining EnQuest, Davenport led Apache's North Sea operations. Hamza and Davenport previously worked together on EnQuest's business in Malaysia. John Penrose will replace Davenport as Managing Director, Malaysia.

McCulloch is a graduate of Cambridge University and Heriot Watt University and holds a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering. He began his career as a graduate trainee with British Gas E&P and went on to spend 11 years with BG Group in a range of senior UK and international roles, latterly as vice president & asset general manager, UK Upstream.
He joined EnQuest in March 2014, as president North Sea, from international oil and gas company OMV, where he held the global role of senior vice president production & engineering.
In December last year, McCulloch was named as the company’s new chief operating officer (COO) and also joined the board as an executive director.
At the time, EnQuest said the appointments recognized McCulloch's success in helping to increase EnQuest’s production from a 2013 average of 24,222 boe/d, before he joined the firm, to 42,520 boe/d in H1 2016.”
Last year, McCulloch was also Oil & Gas UK’s operator co-chairman.
Faysal has an MBA from Georgetown University in Washington. He joined EnQuest in 2011 and prior to that was managing director, private equity at Swicorp, a financial firm operating in the Middle East and North Africa.
Hamza has also held roles as a senior executive at Arab Petroleum Investment Corporation, group business development manager with the Alturki Group in Saudi Arabia, and management positions at Arco International Oil & Gas Company in the US, Saudi International Bank in London and the Saudi Aramco.
Davenport graduated from the University of Alabama with a BS in Mineral Engineering and earned an MBA from Florida International University. He started his career in 1984 as a field engineer with Schlumberger, and gas since worked in petroleum engineering, project management, subsurface, operations and general management with Texaco, Shell, BP and Apache Corporation.
Before joining EnQuest in2015, Davenport served as North Sea operations director for Apache and general manager, Khalda, where he led the largest oil and gas producer in Egypt’s western desert.
