Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) has approved Faroe Petroleum to drill two exploration wells at the Brasse prospect in the North Sea, starting next month.
Brasse (well 31/7-1) is some 97km west of Øygarden in Hordaland county in production license 740. Water depth in the area is 119m. The license covers blocks 31/7 and 30/9, east of the Oseberg field.
Drilling at the two appraisal wells, 31/7-2 and 31/7-3, will begin as early as 1 June, and last 72 days for each well, including possible sidetracks.
The wells will be drilled by the Deepsea Bergen semisubmersible drilling facility of the Aker H-3.2 type, owned and operated by Odfjell Drilling.
Faroe Petroleum Norge is the operator for PL740 with 50% interest. Partner Core Energy holds the remaining 50%.
