Just days after being lifted from the concrete legs it had stood on since 1976, Shell's Brent Delta platform arrived in one piece at Able Seaton Port, Hartlepool, on Tuesday.
The journey followed the record-breaking, 24,200-tonne lift by Allseas' megavessel Pioneering Spirit, some 186km northeast of the coast of Shetland in the northern North Sea. Pioneering Spirit transported the topside to 5km offshore Hartlepool, where it transferred the facilities to the Iron Lady barge, which was then towed into Able Seaton port. There, it was skidded on to Able's Quay 6. Watch the topsides arrive in port below.

Able Seaton Port underwent a huge upgrade in order to accommodate the Brent Delta topsides. Brent Delta, comprising three main levels (module support frame, module deck and drilling deck) is 74m x 47m, 44m high to the helideck and 132m-high to the flare tip.
It is the first of four Brent field facilities topsides that will be removed using the Pioneering Spirit.
