Petrovietnam delivers jackup

Published

Petrovietnam Marine Shipyard (PV Shipyard) is due to deliver the Tam Dao 05 jackup drilling rig to its client today (12 August).

Earlier this week, the firm completed full height jacking trials on the rig.

Tam Dao 05 is a Friede and Goldman JU-2000E design. It is expected to weigh 18,00-tonne and be capable of operating at 120m (400ft) water depth, and drill to 9000m (30,000 ft).

It is the second jack-up rig domestically manufactured by PV Shipyard. The first was Tam Dao 03 which was put into stable operation in 2012.

Last year, Hoang Trung Hai, Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister, said that Tam Dao 5 is the crucial project not only for PetroVietnam but also for Vietnam.
