Rowan Companies is putting a jackup on stand by for Apache Corp., in addition to inking three rig extensions in the Gulf of Mexico, offshore Norway, and Saudi Arabia, according to the company’s latest fleet report.

The rig owner has entered into extension agreements with Anadarko in the Gulf of Mexico, Lundin offshore Norway, and with Saudi Aramco offshore Saudi Arabia.
Anadarko is extending its contract for the Rowan Resolute ultra deepwater vessel in the Gulf of Mexico until July 2018, an estimated 273 days, at a dayrate of US$580,000, which will be calculated by 1.3 times the numbers of days at a reduced dayrate. Beginning today (1 July 2016), the dayrate has been reduced to $180,000 for an estimated 210 days followed by a return to the original dayrate of $608,000 for the remainder of the primary term.
For the Rowan Viking jackup, Lundin has extended its contract for 270 days until November 2017 offshore Norway at a dayrate of $275,000, following the primary term. The reduced rate of $282,000 is retroactive to 1 January 2016.
Saudi Aramco has extended its deal for the Gilbert Rowe jackup offshore Saudi Arabia until the end of the year (31 December) at the current dayrate of $69,000.
The company’s Rowan Gorilla VII jackup will be put on a stand by rate of 85% in mid-August for Apache. The rig is currently on a blended dayrate of $181,000 until December, with an expected off rate time in Q3 2016 for repairs and inspections, a two-week period in Q2 for equipment failure.
Last month, Rowan was paid $215 million from beleaguered Freeport-McMorRan Oil & Gas for terminating the Rowan Relentless ultra deepwater vessel contract early.
