Italy's Remacut is due to deliver its first system from its new assembly workshop in Genova.
The delivery will be a portable 150-tonne vertical lay system for McDermott, to be used initially on the firm's V108 vessel for Inpex's Ichthys project off Australia.
The system was ordered mid-2015 and was conceived as a portable unit to be mobilized as single-lift structure and it can be quickly installed on a vessel of opportunity for laying various type of products (flexibles, umbilicals, cables) ranging from 50-600mm outer diameter.
It has two 75-tonne, four track tensioners, an extendable working platform, variable geometry bellmouth, centralizer, 150-tonne hang off clamp, wire guide, top aligner, abandonment and recovery system, and certified EPU and HPU shelters integrated into the VLS base. It is due to start operations in Q3.
The new assembly workshop has some 5000sq m covered area and 10,000sq m outdoor space, with 180-long quayside access and 10m water depth.
If very large vessels need to be accomodated, the quayside could be extended by up to 300m.
Plans for the assembly workshop include large deck equipment including tensioners, winches, carousels, vertical lay systems, pipe handling systems on-skid, which can be delivered fully assembled and commissioned on the quayside.
Remacut recently supplied McDermott with equipment for its newbuild DLV2000 pipe lay vessel, including three 150-tonne pipe tensioners, 500 and 250-tonne capstan winches, a 500-tonne over boarding sheave system and an integrated single and an integrated single joint and double joint pipe handling system.
At Q2, Remacut also delivered a 400-tonne reel drive system for McDermott.
