WFS appoints Australia, SE Asia project director

WFS Technology has appointed Mike Theobald as project director for Australia and Southeast Asia.

Theobald brings his knowledge and understanding of subsea control systems, as well as an insight into how best to use Seatooth products and technology, WFS Technology said.

Theobald has worked in the subsea industry for over 25 years. He started his career with FSSL (formally Kvaerner Oilfield Products now Aker Solutions) in 1988, just as subsea systems were gaining popularity.

His core discipline is in subsea control systems. Roles with both operators including BP, Maersk Oil, Woodside, and Petronas; and equipment manufacturers have given him experience in technology, operations and project management.

Theobald sits on several industry standards committees and is long time fellow of the Society for Underwater Technology and a fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

“It will be very rewarding to be part of the team working on this remarkable technology and developing new areas to which can be applied,” said Theobald. “I will be focused on continuing the successful growth of WFS’ presence in the Southeast Asian and Australian regions.”

“We are delighted to have [Theobald] join our team. He brings strong industry experience and a deep knowledge of the control market in which we are successfully establishing ourselves,” said Brendan Hyland, chairman at WFS Technology. “His customer centric approach and strong regional network will enable us to broaden the scope of our advanced technologies in this key area.”
