Island Constructor mobilizes to Oyo field

Published

Houston-based Erin Energy has mobilized the Island Constructor light well intervention (LWI) vessel to the Oyo field, offshore Nigeria.

The Island Constructor, from Island Offshore.

The vessel will be used for LWI service on the Oyo-8 well, which has been necessitated by the failure of the well’s sub-surface controlled sub-surface safety valve (SCSSV) to open following a planned production curtailment in the Oyo field.

The company expects to complete the intervention and re-opening of the SCSSV in April 2016.

The vessel is anticipated to arrive on the Oyo field mid-April and will immediately commence work on Oyo-8. Erin said it expects the intervention to take a few days to complete and to subsequently re-establish production from the well.

Oyo-8 is located in OML 120 in 1000ft of water and is producing to the Armada Perdana FPSO.The development well was drilled in 3Q 2014 to about 6100ft and was successfully completed horizontally in the Pliocene formation. In May 2015, the well exceeded expectations and produced at a stabilized rate of 7080 b/d. It was originally expected to reach 7000 b/d.
