Houston's Vantage Drilling has signed an agreement for a two-year extension of the ultra-deepwater drillship Tungsten Explorer contract.
The contract, initially signed in 2013, and running from mid-2014 for two years, is now anticipated to keep the Tungsten Explorer working until October 2018.
The Tungsten Explorer was delivered in 2013 from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in South Korea. It has been working offshore Congo, west Africa, for French oil major Total, according to Infield Systems.
Paul Bragg, Vantage's president and CEO, said: "We are pleased to announce this agreement with our customer. This agreement will provide visibility to cash flow for an extended period of time."
Vantage owns three ultra-deepwater drillships - the Platinum Explorer, the Titanium Explorer and the Tungsten Explorer - as well as four Baker Marine Pacific Class 375 ultra-premium jackup drilling rigs.
