Atlantis, a global leader in the tidal power sector, is pleased to announce the appointment of Cameron Smith, as director of project development.
Smith has joined Atlantis’ new executive management group based at its corporate headquarters in Scotland and will report directly to the CEO. He will have responsibility for the development of the entire Atlantis portfolio including the next phase of MeyGen, the recently announced Sound of Islay project and Atlantis’ interests in Canada and Asia. He will also be responsible for looking for new project development opportunities with a global remit.
He was previously the COO (offshore) of Mainstream Renewable Power, a global wind and solar company, where he held a variety of roles from 2008. Of particular relevance to his new role at Atlantis, Smith had full commercial responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of all of Mainstream’s offshore business. Smith moved to Mainstream Renewable Power from Airtricity, where he held the role of Development Manager.
He is a chartered Electrical Engineer with a background in marine electrical contracting, shipbuilding and utility asset management and is passionate about renewable energy and the economic opportunities it can provide. He is currently on the board of Scottish Renewables.
