Husky Energy says it still continues to assess potential development options for its West White Rose extension in the Jeanne d'Arc Basin.
The firm started production from the nearby South White Rose project, a subsea satellite tieback to the White Rose project's SeaRose FPSO, last month (June 2015).
But plans for a final investment decision West White Rose, which had been planned to come on stream in 2015, with a new, proposed fixed platform, had been deferred back in December.
One of two concepts being assessed, a fixed wellhead platform, has received regulatory approval from the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board. But, a subsea option to develop the field extension is also being evaluated.
Husky says the West White Rose extension is a key project in the company's long-term portfolio and is expected to begin production in the 2020-plus timeframe, subject to ongoing project review and final approvals.
Husky holds a 72.5% working interest in the main White Rose field, about 300km off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador. It has a 68.9% stake in the satellite fields, which include North Amethyst, South White Rose and West White Rose.
