Datum360 awarded and delivers for Martin Linge project

Datum360 has been awarded - and has already successfully delivered - a US$1.05 million (£685,000) contract by Total to provide a data warehouse for the ground breaking Martin Linge project in the Norwegian North Sea.

Currently under construction – with a completion date expected of 2016 – the Martin Linge scheme brings technological innovations to the oil and gas production industry designed to significantly reduce environmental impacts and enhance operational safety.

With a water depth of 115m, the development will set a precedent for sustainability by receiving its electrical power from the onshore grid via a 170km subsea cable that will reduce carbon emissions by 2 million tonne.

As part of its contract Datum360 implemented its off the shelf, proven service as a software (SaaS) solutions in less than one week; CLS360 and PIM360 which have, not only, captured the specification for gathering the engineering information, but which will now act as the data management warehouse for its ongoing collection and assurance.

And with the average engineering information management contract awarded at about $4.6 to $7.7 million (£3 to £5 million), Datum360’s contract award could also potentially transform the industry by demonstrating the cost effectiveness available to owner operators through the implementation of off the shelf solutions that can be deployed in rapid time.

Crucially Datum360’s scope of work supports Total’s operating philosophy of minimizing offshore operating scope by increasing the quality of engineering information and thus enabling operators to work onshore. Total expects Datum360’s SaaS products to be the center of engineering information for the operating phase of the Martin Linge asset.

As a result of its efforts Datum360 has already been awarded extra work with Total value of $677,000 (£438,000) and is working with its contractors to effectively extract engineering information from the design process.

Datum360 has a team of specialists operating across oil and gas projects, operations and decommissioning. They have delivered class libraries to most of the super major oil companies and boast clients including Maersk Oil, Total, BP and GDF Suez (now Engie).
