Technip has won the contract to provide detailed engineering and procurement services for the topsides of what will become a floating production and offloading (FPSO) for Brazil's multi-billion barrel pre-salt Libra field.
The FPSO, which will be a conversion from a shuttle tanker, is being converted at Jurong Shipyard, Singapore, under a contract with Deltamarin. Once complete, it will be moored in about 2500m water depth in Brazil'd Santos Basin, 183km offshore Rio de Janeiro state. It will have a capacity of 50,000 boe/d and 4 MMcm/d natural gas. The Libra field covers about 1500sq km and contains between 8-12 billion boe, according to Brazil's national petroleum agency, ANP. To produce at an expected 1 MMb/d full capacity by 2020, some 10-15 FPSOs will be needed over the field, partner Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. CEO Oswaldo Pedrosa told OTC Houston last year.
In October 2014, Deltamain awarded Jurong Shipyard a contract to convert Teekay's Navion Norvega shuttle tanker into the Libra FPSO, which is scheduled for completion in 3Q 2016 and will be operated by OOGTK Libra GmbH & Co KG,a 50:50 joint venture between Odebrecht Oil & Gas and Teekay Offshore.
Technip’s operating center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will execute the contract which is scheduled for completion during the second semester of 2016.
The Libra consortium is made up of Petrobras (operator, 40%), Shell (20%), Total (20%), CNPC (10%), and CNOOC (10%), together with Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA) as the consortium manager. In October 2014, Petrobras said the FPSO delivery and first well test are planned for 4Q 2016.
