A fire aboard Petróleos Mexicanos’ (Pemex) unmanned Akal-H platform was quickly put out on Monday (22 June) in the Bay of Campeche.

Four boats responded to the fire on the platform that suffered minimal damage. It is expected to be fully restored on Friday (26 June), Pemex said.
The fire caused a leak of natural gas and oil, and Pemex is estimating a production loss of 15,000 bbl of crude oil due to the incident.
Three workers, responsible for routine inspection, were immediately evacuated after the incident. No injuries were reported.
Akal-H marks the third offshore incident for the state-run company since April, the other two were fatal.
In May, two Typhoon Offshore Services workers died and one was injured at the Troll Solution jackup platform, after one of its legs failed.
In April, a fire on the Pemex's Abkatún central processing platform in the Gulf of Mexico killed four workers, left three missing and 45 in need of medical care.
