The Saipem-built jacket was lifted in place down to the seabed at 112m water depth, in the early morning hours of 10 June using the Thialf semisubmersible crane vessel.
Det norske is planning predrilling over the top of the 137m long jacket to begin soon using Maersk Drilling’s Maersk Interceptor harsh environment jackup rig.
Ivar Aasen is now ready to be completed with the platform deck, which is under production at the SMOE yard in Singapore. According to Det norske, the lower deck has been sandblasted and painted and new steps are being taken every day on the complicated structure that will sail to the Utsira High in 1H 2016.
The topside is scheduled to be installed on top of the jacket in 2016, with first oil expected in 4Q 2016.
The steel jacket began it journey to the North Sea from Rotterdam at the end of April using Heerema’s H-627 barge. Saipem built the jacket at its Arbatax facility in Sardinia.
The Ivar Aasen field is located on the Utsira High in the North Sea, west of the Johan Sverdrup field. It contains about 204 MMboe and is expected to reach peak production of approximately 75,000 boe/d.
Det norske’s drilling program on the field began in January 2015 using the Maersk Interceptor jackup, after gaining the Petroleum Safety Authority of Norway’s consent in December 2014. The program will last three years and is comprised of 15 wells: eight production wells and seven water injection wells, in addition to three pilot wells.
The Ivar Aasen development comprises resources in five fields: PL 001B, 028B, 242, 338 and 547; and three deposits: Ivar Aasen, West Cable and Hanz.
Det norske received the green light to drill the 16/1-22 A appraisal well located in Block 16/1 from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate at the end of May. It marked the eighth exploration well to be drilled within the license area, and the 10th on the Ivar Aasen field.
Det norske is the operator of the Ivan Aasen with a 34.7862% interest. Partners include Statoil (41.4730%), Bayerngas Norge (12.3173%), Wintershall Norge (6.4651%), VNG Norge (3.0230%), Lundin Norway (1.3850%), and OMW Norge (0.5540%).
