EMGS will again use the BOA Galatea, however a time frame for the acquisition has not been settled, the company said.
In July 2013, PEMEX originally awarded EMGS a US$99.8 million contract for the 3D EM survey in the Gulf of Mexico.
EMGS’s previous PEMEX seismic work
Since 2010, EMGS has conducted more than 16,000sq km of 3D controlled source electromagnetic (CSEM) data, with more than 40 identified prospects in the Gulf of Mexico for Pemex.
When 3D CSEM is integrated with seismic data, it can lower exploration costs and increase discovery rates in the US and the Mexican Gulf of Mexico, according to Vincent Vieugue, EMGS executive VP of sales and marketing.
