Petrofac has been selected as duty holder for newly appointed southern North Sea Sean field operator Oranje-Nassau Energie (ONE), as of 1 June.
Dutch operator ONE made its first step into UK waters when it bought a 50% stake in and took over operatorship of the Sean field in a deal announced last week.
Petrofac's contract as duty holder is worth US$45 million over three years, with the option of two one-year extensions.
The Sean assets comprise a manned, bridge-linked wellhead and production platform, a normally unmanned installation and a 30in export pipeline to Bacton. The facilities are about 68mi offshore, northeast of Lowestoft, England.
The contract will support around 40 on and offshore jobs and will see Petrofac provide operations and maintenance services plus a range of ancillary functions.
Walter Thain, managing director, Petrofac Offshore Projects and Operations said: “ONE is entering the UK market for the first time as an offshore operator and has significant ambitions as an operating company and we look forward to facilitating and supporting their future plans.”
Alexander Berger, Oranje-Nassau Energie CEO, said: “Our ambition is to become the preferred Southern and Central North Sea operator. We are optimistic about the growth prospects of the Sean area and believe that our experience, coupled with our strong balance sheet, makes us well positioned to capitalize on other opportunities.”
Petrofac has been supporting ONE throughout its preparations for transfer of operatorship, including in its interface with UK regulators.
ONE is already an active operator in the Dutch North Sea and a long-time non-operating partner in various Dutch North Sea joint ventures, as well as the Kowe field in Gabon and the Buzzard field and Golden Eagle Area development in the UK North Sea.
Petrofac has been active in the Southern North Sea since 2007 and employs 175 people from two offices in Great Yarmouth.
