Petrobras encountered a new oil accumulation at its ultra deepwater Sergipe basin at the Poco Verde field, offshore Brazil.

Well 3-SES-189 (Poco Verde well 4) is located in concession BM-SEAL-4, it is about 23.5km from the discovery well, at a water depth of 2479m, The well is currently up to 5350m deep. Its target depth is 5500m.
The reservoirs are light oil carriers with the highest market value and have a total thickness of 85m with good condition of porosity and permeability.
The joint venture will perform a formation test to evaluate the results and confirm the conditions of reservoirs and production potential.
This is the third well drilled in the Poco Verde area. The discovery occurred in July 2012. This area includes the exploratory project in the Sergipe-Alagoas basin, in ultra deepwater, composed of five evaluation plans.
The company will continue with its discovery evaluation plan, as approved by the Agência Nacional de Petróleo, Gás Natural e Biocombustíveis (ANP).
Petrobras is the operator of the consortium with 75% interest. Partner ONGC holds the remaining 25%.
In April, Petrobras encountered the presence of light oil at well 3-BRSA-1296-SES in concession BM-SEAL-10, Block SEAL-M-499, also in the Sergpipe basin.
In February, the company confirmed a light oil and gas discovery by at the 3-SES-186 well, the third extension well in the ultra deepwatersof Sergipe basin’s Farfan area.
Earlier this week, the Brazil giant encountered light oil pay at the second appraisal well at its Carcará pre-salt discovery offshore Rio de Janeiro.
