OTC15: MONOPOLY collector’s edition celebrates the offshore industry

Celebrating its 40th Anniversary, Offshore Engineer (OE) and Hasbro Inc, an American multinational toy and game company, teamed up to create a custom MONOPOLY Game for the offshore industry.  The OE 40th Anniversary Collector’s Edition MONOPOLY Game will be introduced and available for purchase at the 2015 OTC Conference in Houston in OE’s Booth #4201, which begins on Monday, 4 May.

The traditional MONOPOLY game has been fully customized incorporating elements of the offshore industry including graphics; offshore-related tokens such as a helicopter, drill bit, drillship, safety helmet, scuba diver and ROV (remotely operated vehicle); currency is in barrels of oil; Chance cards are Exploration cards; and Chest cards are Production cards.

The traditional properties (Boardwalk, Park Place, etc.) have been renamed after participating companies, including many Houston-based companies such as NOV, OneSubsea, Halliburton and FMC Technologies.  Two significant industry associations – International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) and Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) are also part of the game.  PEMEX, Aker Solutions and Archer are among the International companies participating.

“We wanted to do something truly unique to celebrate and promote the industry,” said Brion Palmer, President of AtComedia, publisher of OE. “A custom MONOPOLY game for the industry offered us the opportunity to accomplish these goals in a fun, interactive, educational and family-oriented manner.”

The OE 40th Anniversary Special Collector’s MONOPOLY editions are available for US$50 each (plus tax and shipping) and can be purchased online at www.atcomedia.com/store/oe-monopoly.  Games will also be available for purchase at OE’s OTC Booth #4201.

A portion of the sale of each board will benefit Oilfield Helping Hands.
