KrisEnergy hits at final sidetrack

KrisEnergy’s Thai campaign success continues at its Rossukon-3ST sidetrack well that encountered 148ft of oil and gas pay.

The final exploration well in the Rossukon series is located in license G6/48 in the Gulf of Thailand and was drilling with Shelf Drilling’s Key Gibraltar jackup.

Rossukon-3ST was drilled from the same surface location as the Rossukon-3 exploration well and reached a total depth of 6645ft where preliminary interpretation of well logs indicate that the well intersected approximately 85ft true vertical depth (TVD) of net oil-bearing sandstones and 63ft TVD of net gas-bearing sandstones over several reservoir intervals, KrisEnergy said.

Rossukon-3 is 1.9km west of the Rossukon-2 surface location and 1.8 km northwest of the original Rossukon-1 discovery well at 208ft water depth.

“This final sidetrack completes our exploration drilling program in G6/48 for this year,” Chris Gibson-Robinson, KrisEnergy director E&P said. “All four wells have encountered oil and gas and have provided a great amount of information, which will be incorporated in our geological model and reviewed in the coming months as we assess a development plan.”

KrisEnergy’s G6/48 license covers 566sq km over the Karawake basin and lies to the north of the G10/48 license, where KrisEnergy is developing the Wassana oil field. The Key Gibraltar will be mobilized to the nearby G10/48 license to begin drilling the Rayrai-1 exploration well, which will be followed by 15 development wells in the Wassana oil development.

Previous Rossukon G6/48 hits

The previous wells in G6/48 have all proved successful for Singapore-based KrisEnergy, which have all been drilled with the Key Gibraltar jackup.

Most recently, the company struck 124ft of oil and gas at Rossukon-3 on 14 April. Preliminary well logs indicated that the well intersected approximately 75ft TVD of net oil-bearing sandstones and 49ft TVD of net gas-bearing sandstones over several reservoir intervals. The well has been plugged.

Rossukon-2ST was drilled in March to a total depth of 2216m at a deviation of 57 degrees. The well encountered 140ft TVD of net oil and gas pay.

Rossukon-2, located at 210ft water depth was drilled to 5460ft where preliminary logs indicated that the well intersected approximately 106ft of net oil and gas over five reservoir intervals broken down to 69ft of net oil bearing sandstones and 37ft of net gas-bearing sandstones.

The company began its Thai drilling campaign in mid-March.

KrisEnergy took over operatorship of G6/48 in May 2014and holds 30% interest in the concession with its Northern Gulf Petroleum (40%) and Mubadala Petroleum (30%).
