VAALCO Energy began first production from the Etame 10-H well, part of its six-well development drilling campaign on the Etame Marin block, offshore Gabon.

Etame 10-H was drilled with Transocean’s Constellation II jackup rig to a measured depth of 3144m, while intersecting more than 180m of high quality reservoir within an oil-bearing portion of the Gamba sand.
Following completion, VAALCO tested the horizontal development well at the rate of about 3200 b/d on a gross basis with negligible amounts of water and no hydrogen sulfide. VAALCO says that the well is currently being produced at approximately 3000 b/d.
The Constellation II is being mobilized to drill additional development wells from the southeast Etame/N.Tchibala (SEENT) platform. The company will begin with the southeast Etame 2-H well, located in the southeast Etame field.
Etame 10-H is the second development well drilled from the newly installed Etame platform. The first, Etame 8-H was drilled in 4Q 2014.
The Houston-based company plans to conduct an extended well test of Etame 8-H this quarter, after the jackup’s mobilization, to confirm and quantify the presence of hydrogen sulfide that the company detected during the initial 17-hour flow test.
In November, VAALCO temporarily shut-in Well 2-H in the Ebouri field, within the Etame Marin permit, due to pressure communication between the tubing and casing annuli. The company is investing US$200-$250 million for the new crude sweetening platform at Ebouri to remove hydrogen sulfide. Installation is expected early 2017 and final investment decision is expected in 1H 2015.
VAALCO began its six-well development drilling campaign in October 2014, following the installation of the Etame platform and SEENT platform.
The Etame and SEENT platforms were each equipped with eight well slots to provide for the option to drill up to five additional development wells from each platform after the completion of the current six well drilling campaign.
