The Ivar Aasen field is located in Block 16/1, about 175km west of Karmøy in Rogaland county.

The three appraisal wells are dubbed 16/1-21 S, 16/1-21 A and 16/1-22. According to the PSA, the first two consist of a main bore and a sidetrack, meaning that the three wells will be drilled from two different locations. The water depth at the two locations is 113m and 111m.

The wells will be drilled using Maersk Drilling Norge’s Maersk Interceptor mobile drilling facility, with the combined duration of drilling activities expected to be 153 days. Start up is set for 4Q 2016.
