According to Marine Contracting, the MOPU will go into dry dock for minor refurbishments prior to being positioned at KrisEnergy’s G10/G48 block in the Wassana field.
The Cendor MOPU, a drilling jack-up rig that has gross tonnage of 4655-tonne, contains a deck area capable of holding two separators as well as a production test unit and has the capacity to inject up to 25,000b/d of seawater into the reservoir.
Before the move, the MOPU had been in continuous operation on the Cendor field for operator Petrofac since 2006, when the field went into production. To date, the field has produced in excess of 27MMbbl of premium crude.
“We are delighted to have completed the first leg of this highly complex operation that involves one of Southeast Asia’s most high profile offshore installations,” says Wolfgang Wandl, Marine Contracting CEO.
The Wassana Field
KrisEnergy holds 100% working interest in G10/48 license that contains three oil discoveries: Wassana, Niramai and Mayura, all of which are in various stages of development or appraisal. G10/48 covers 4696sq km over the southern section of the Pattani basin in water depths up to 60m and is expected to begin production in 2H 2015 and is expected to reach a peak at 10,000b/d.
KrisEnergy says it submitted a production area application for the Wassana oil development to the Thai authorities. The Wassana development concept comprises up to 15 development wells producing to a MOPU with oil transferred to a floating storage and offloading vessel.
In late October, KrisEnergy chartered the Rubicon Vantage FSO vessel and a catenary anchor leg mooring (CALM) buoy for use in the G10/48 license area.
In August, the company completed drilling on the Mancharee-1 well in G10/48, where gas shows were encountered at several levels, but no significant pay zones were identified. Mancharee-1, the final commitment well in the third exploration phase of the license, was drilled using the West Cressida jackup rig owned by Seadrill Far East Ltd.
