Petrobras starts-up 5th FPSO in Brazil

Brazil's Petrobras is bring its Cidade de Ilhabela floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel onstream to operate in the pre-salt Santos basin, offshore Brazil, according to partner BG Group.

This is the second unit deployed on the Sapinhoá field and the fifth FPSO to have come onstream in the area.

The Cidade de Ilhabela has capacity to process 150,000b/d and 212MMscf/d of natural gas.

The Cidade de São Paulo, which started producing in January 2013, is now at plateau production.

The oil produced from Sapinhoá is high quality and of medium density (29° API). Gas not used for reinjection will be transferred to shore through the Santos basin pipeline system.

Petrobras, operates Block BM-S-9 with 45% interest with BG Group (30%) and Repsol Sinopec Brasil (25%).

Petrobras also operates Block BM-S-11 with 65% interest with BG Group (25%) and Petrogal Brasil (10%).
