Drydocks World has been chosen to carry out the drydocking and repairs of the jackup High Island IV for Shelf Drilling.
Shelf Drilling is a key player in the shallow water drilling market, owning 40 rigs worldwide. Drydocks World-Dubai has previously worked on six of Shelf Drilling’s rigs, ranging from Saudi Aramco specifications to major upgrades and re-activation.
The High Island IV is a 270ft standard IC jackup rated for a maximum total drilling depth of roughly 20,000 ft. It can accommodate a crew of approximately 70.
Built on a LTI 82-SD-C design template, the rig was constructed at the Davie shipyard in Canada. The jackup was delivered in 1980. During its operating history, the High Island IV has also been called the GSF High Island IV (during the time that GlobalSantaFe and later Transocean owned the rig, before the divestiture to Shelf Drilling).
In the past three years, Drydocks World-Dubai yard has successfully refurbished and repaired 35 rigs, including two re-activation projects.
His Excellency Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World Buamim said: “We have already surpassed the target set for this year in terms of orders for rig drydocking, repairs, and refurbishment. We look forward to increasing our achievements as we embark on another project with Shelf Drilling, furthering our strategic alliance, and continuing to provide services which adhere to the highest standards in international operational excellence.”
